The sanskrit name is eka pada raja kapotasana meaning one legged king pigeon pose. Sit with your right knee bent and your left leg extended behind you. Pigeon pose can feel intense and stimulating.
To come out of the pose, push back through the hands, lift your hips and move your leg back into all fours.
There are different locations you can place a yoga block in order it to assist you. Pigeon pose, or eka pada rajakapotasana, primarily targets the external rotators of the hips. Also known as the reverse pigeon pose it is commonly used by runners during recovery, to release any strain in the hamstrings and glutes.
